Why Russian?
- Russian is the primary language of the 150 million citizens of the Russian Federation, as the Russian state calls itself, and is the native language of approximately 30 million people living in the other states which were formed after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
- Russian is the key that opens up one of the most important economic, political, and cultural areas of the world. It opens up the largest country of the world and one of the largest produces of natural gas and oil in the world.
- Russian is the means to understand one of the major European literatures.

2nd Grade Russian Language DLI Program
Language:
In Russian 2nd grade DLI program we learn how to speak, read, and write in Russian.
The program's emphasis on cursive writing in Russian is a remarkable facet of the curriculum that fosters not only language proficiency but also an appreciation for the written arts. Within this program, students master the art of cursive writing in Russian as they explore an array of topics such as “seasons, about me, my family, my day, my school, my city.”
Students meticulously practice the fluidity and elegance of cursive script while expressing their thoughts on the changing seasons, their daily routines and many other topics. This process not only enhances their ability to read and write in Russian but also cultivates a deeper connection to the language as they articulate their experiences.
Additionally, the DLI program provides students with a rich and authentic workbook filled with reading, writing, and grammar assignments. These materials offer a comprehensive approach to language learning, allowing students to engage with real-world Russian texts that reinforce their language skills. The DLI (Dual Language Immersion) 2nd grade program's enVision math curriculum is utilized in our classroom. Taught primarily in Russian, it not only helps students build a strong foundation in mathematics but also provides them with the valuable opportunity to develop their language skills simultaneously. The program aligns with the rigorous 2nd-grade U.S. math standards, ensuring that students meet and exceed grade-level expectations. Through engaging activities, visual aids, and hands-on learning experiences, students dive into mathematical concepts in their native language, which not only makes learning math enjoyable but also reinforces their understanding of the subject.
As the students progress in their DLI journey, the enVision math program takes a comprehensive approach by reinforcing the concepts learned in Russian within the English classroom. This bilingual

The 2nd-grade Dual Language Immersion (DLI) science program in Utah is an engaging and immersive educational journey that aligns with the state's 2nd-grade science standards. This program offers students the opportunity to delve into scientific concepts while simultaneously building their language skills. The program also delves into "Financial Literacy," equipping students with essential life skills related to money management, budgeting, and saving. Lastly, students embark on a fascinating exploration of “Christmas, New Year and Easter in Russia," discovering the customs, traditions, and cultural significance of this holiday in a global context. DLI (Dual Language Immersion) culture night at our school is an enchanting journey into the rich tapestry of languages and cultures. It is a night where diversity and learning intertwined seamlessly, and
everyone is warmly invited to explore the wonders of the world through language. One captivating feature is the floor puzzle offered to the participants in our second-grade classroom during this event. The puzzle virtually transports us to Russia during Christmas, where we piece together the intricate elements of Russian culture. As we connect the puzzle's pieces, we uncover the magic of Russian winter celebrations, and the joy of learning about traditions and customs from around the globe. DLI culture night is not just a lesson in language but a celebration of diversity.
